What the jaws will and will not touch

Every item below is a lag problem: leading edge relative to hosel. If your complaint is a twist sleeve, a re-bore, or a grind stamp, this menu will send you elsewhere on purpose.

Drawer A

Blade lag

Near-zero offset on player irons. We check whether the edge truly shares the neck, or whether a “blade” is quietly carrying two millimeters of GI help.

Cavity lag

Game-improvement faces that sit well behind the hosel. Visual close, extra wait, and the damp-turf skate that Dayton golfers either want or regret.

Drawer C

Hybrid lag

Hybrids often wear more offset than the iron they replaced. That mismatch is why a 4-hybrid starts left of a 5-iron that looked “the same.”

Wedge lag

Wedge hosels sit forward of the leading edge in ways that change bounce presentation on wet river lies. We measure it; we do not recut soles here.

Driver face lag

Some drivers still hide a few millimeters of face-behind-neck. That is not a sleeve setting. We will say so twice before anyone reaches for a wrench.

Putter: declined

Face-balanced versus toe-hang is not iron offset. We will not mill a putter as if it were a 7-iron. Read the decline page instead of arguing at the desk.

Set curve

Progressive offset is a line, not a 7-iron slogan

Long irons in mixed sets often carry 3–5 mm more lag than the pitching wedge. Golfers who only glance at the 7 miss the reason the 4-iron looks shut and the wedge looks “honest.” The mill maps the whole curve when you book the full-iron work order.
