Hybrids wear extra lag and pretend they are irons

We clamp hybrids in the same V-block. The neck is still datum. The leading edge of a hybrid face sits farther back than most golfers guess, especially on heads designed to “launch.” Yellow Springs golfers notice it as a start-line that lives left of their iron start-line even when lofts match on a sticker.

Damp river lies complicate it. A hybrid’s sole is longer, so offset and bounce talk to each other. We still refuse to recut soles here. We will tell you whether the lag is the liar, and whether a different hybrid with milder offset would stop the left start without dragging you back into a long iron you already hated.

If your hybrid uses an adjustable adapter, we still measure face lag with the adapter in the setting you actually play. We will not twist it. Sleeve loft is a different mill. Mixing those two appointments is how people leave with a number that describes a head they no longer own.
